Call for Papers: Current Scholarship in Labor and Employment Law – Las Vegas, NV

The UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law will host the 8th Annual Colloquium on Current Scholarship in Labor and Employment Law on September 27-28, 2013. There are two “calls” associated with this conference: a call for proposals for presentation and a call for papers. A variety of employment topics will be considered at the conference, including the following:

With one of the highest percentages of union-represented workers in the country, Las Vegas is one of the last union towns around, paradoxically, in the “right to work” state of Nevada. Colloquium attendees will learn more about the impact that the Culinary Workers Union has had in the Las Vegas hospitality industry and the community at a special dinner and panel discussion at the union hall on Friday night.

Papers for the 50th Anniversary of Title VII Symposium:

The Nevada Law Journal is planning a symposium to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the passage of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, which occurs in 2014. There is limited space. The Journal expects to publish approximately 10 articles. Submissions will be accepted from all who plan to attend the 8th Annual Colloquium on Labor and Employment Law Scholarship at UNLV Boyd School of Law, September 27-28, 2013. Those who wish to have their articles considered for the symposium must submit articles no later than August 15, 2013. The submissions must deal with Title VII, should be in Word documents, 25-40 pages long, double spaced and in Times New Roman 12 font. Note that this deadline occurs before our conference in Las Vegas. The Journal will select the submissions it decides to publish and notify authors at the latest by September 3, 2013. This submission is in addition to registration and the submission of your abstract for purposes of presenting at the Colloquium.
