Call for Webinar Presenters—Global Legal Writing Skills

Legal Writing Institute

The Legal Writing Institute‘s Global Legal Writing Skills Committee seeks presenters for a series of webinars. The proposal deadline is Oct. 6, 2014.

The Legal Writing Institute’s Global Legal Writing Skills Committee is planning a series of webinars. We are hoping to hold our inaugural webinar in late October. We also plan on making webinar recordings available online for LWI members.

After distributing a survey in July gauging interests relating to global legal writing skills, we received a tremendous number of responses, for which we are very grateful. In light of those responses, the Committee has decided to host webinars with the goal of assisting professors teach international law students.

We ask that interested presenters submit one-paragraph descriptions of their proposed presentations. In particular, we encourage proposals targeted at helping legal writing professors teach international students. Topics may include cross-cultural competencies, overcoming linguistic challenges, designing appropriate curricula, creating suitable materials, or any other topic relating to teaching international law students.

In addition to describing the content of the presentations, we ask presenters include whether they have preferences in terms of when they would like to present.

Webinar presentations, including audience questions, will last 45-60 minutes. The Committee will “host” the webinar, so the presenter will only need a computer, video camera, and speaker phone.

Please submit your proposals no later than October 6, 2014, to Cara Cunningham Warren at cunnincl@udmercy.edu and Sammy Mansour at mansou25@law.msu.edu.
