Call for Papers: The Present and Future of Civil Rights Movements – Durham, NC

Civil Rights Conference - Duke

The Duke Center on Law, Race and Politics presents Civil Rights – The Present and Future of Civil Rights Movements: Race and Reform in 21st Century America on Nov. 20-Nov. 21, 2015.

In exploring today’s civil rights struggles, including the disproportionate imprisonment of populations of color, decreased access to housing, and persistent roadblocks to basic civic freedoms such as voting, this conference will provide an opportunity for those who recognize the persistent impact of systematic racism to reflect on the past and present in order to better inform the future.

The conference includes a call for papers.

Each proposal must include a cover page with paper title, presenter, affiliation, and a current email contact, along with a C.V. of each presenter and an abstract of no more than 250 words. Please submit materials via email to DukeLawCLRP[@]gmail.com with the subject line: CRS Symposium Proposal.

The deadline for submission is June 15, 2015. Scholars whose submissions are selected for the symposium will be notified no later than July 15, 2015. We encourage early submissions, as selections will be made on a rolling basis.
