CFP: Legal Issues re Earthquakes & Other Natural Disasters

Washington Journal of Environmental Law & Policy (WJELP)

The Washington Journal of Environmental Law & Policy (WJELP) invites submissions for papers focused on how the legal landscape contends with the challenges of earthquakes and other natural disasters. Partnering with the University of Washington’s Environmental Law Program, WJELP will be hosting a symposium on this topic in mid-January 2017. [Update (Oct. 14, 2016):  The symposium will be held Jan. 20, 2017.] Accepted papers will be featured in a monograph, and select authors will present at the symposium. The submission deadline is Nov. 28, 2016.

Submitted papers should relate to the growing need for law and policy addressing earthquakes and natural disaster preparedness and response at various scales. In addition, papers may address other issued surrounding the topic, including liability concerns, land use planning, and regulatory matters. We also welcome proposals for independent symposium speakers.

Preferred submission deadline is November 28, 2016

Please submit articles by email to wjelp@uw.edu or through our page on ExpressO.
