The Ackerman Center at The University of Texas at Dallas and the US Air Force Academy are pleased to invite proposals for a joint conference at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs from October 11-13, 2023. This international and multidisciplinary conference offers the opportunity to examine the intersectionality of War, the Holocaust, and Human Rights as well as their representation through various disciplines, lenses, and formats. Bringing together scholars and practitioners from multiple fields, this conference seeks to foster critical dialogues regarding the nature of war, genocide, and the preservation of human rights. It will expand current understanding of these issues, while exploring the ways in which armed conflicts and crimes against humanity have come to mark the modern era.
We invite submissions in a variety of formats, including individual papers, panels, and artistic representations addressing any aspect of the conference themes, without limits to geography or historical era.
Please submit proposals by email to WHHRConference@utdallas.edu by March 1, 2023 with the subject line “WHHR Proposal” and include the following components in a single PDF document:
- Title(s) of paper(s) with an abstract of 350 words for a group presentation or 150 words for an individual presentation
- A one-page CV and a brief biography (no more than 100 words) per participant/moderator
Notification of Acceptance letters will be emailed by the end of May 2023. Registration, which includes the cost of all meals served during the conference, will open on January 1, 2023 and will include a tiered pricing level:

Regular Registration (June 2 – September 20, 2023)
Participants: $200
Students: $125
