Northeast People of Color Legal Scholarship Conference — San Juan, Puerto Rico

The University of Puerto Rico School of Law (la Escuela de Derecho, Universidad de Puerto Rico) hosts the 2013 Northeast People of Color (NEPOC) Legal Scholarship Conference Dec. 5-8, 2013. The conference theme is “Defining Vice: Evolving Standards of Morality, Law and Governance.

Vice has been around as long as humans have and comes in many forms in all communities. Puerto Rico and many other states and territories are currently struggling to deal with the legal governance of drugs, gambling, guns and violence, human trafficking, hate and fear mongering and numerous other human vices

Proposals for most of the categories are due Aug. 1, 2013. Abstracts of works in progress (and offers to serve as commenters for those sessions) due Sept. 9.

The 2013 NEPOC Legal Scholarship Conference is organized through the collaborative efforts of University of Puerto Rico School of Law and the NEPOC Planning Committee, which is composed of law professors of color at many different law schools and colleges in the country.
