American Antitrust Institute – Washington, DC

The American Antitrust Institute holds its Annual National Conference and 10th Anniversary Celebration June 18-19, 2008.

George W. Bush entered office promising a merger policy of “continuity” with the Clinton administration, only to lead a period of the most lax merger enforcement in decades.  What can we expect from the next President?

On June 18 and 19, the American Antitrust Institute will present its Transition Report on Competition Policy for the next Administration at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.  The report will provide the next Administration with specific
suggestions for enforcement priorities, including a merger policy.

Jonathan B. Baker, Professor, Washington College of Law, American University will lead panelists  – Cecile Kohrs Lindell of The Deal and William Kolasky, Partner, WilmerHale; former Deputy Assistant Attorney General – in a discussion of the Transition Report’s proposals and analysis.

The panel discussion is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, immediately following the panels on “A More Expansive View of the FTC” and “Whither the Antitrust Division?”
