The Protection Project at The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), in cooperation with the World Society of Mixed Jurisdiction Jurists, and the Tulane University Law School Eason Weinmann Center for Comparative Law, will hold an international conference in Malta entitled Mixed Legal Systems, East and West: Newest Trends and Developments” May 14-15, 2012. The IFLA Law Libraries Section, in cooperation with Libraries & Research Services for Parliaments, Government Information & Official Publications, and Government Libraries, is seeking proposals for papers to be presented at a two-hour program to be held at the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Helsinki, Finland in August 2012. This is a Call for Papers to share experiences by featuring model countries and promoting best practices. Papers are welcome on how Ministry of Justices or other governmental institutions in European democracies have addressed the issue of free open access for official authenticated legal information.

The Journal of Chinese Tax and Policy has issued a call for papers for its inaugural conference, which will be held on November 23-25, 2012 at Sun Yat-Sen University . The theme of the conference will be Tax Policy in China: A multilateral dialogue – Modernizing China’s Tax Laws for a Diverse Economy. The conference organizers are soliciting papers dealing with the conference theme and/or its implications. All papers accepted for the conference may be selected for publication in the Journal of Chinese Tax and Policy.
Abstract submissions of 300 words (in English) are due April 25, 2012. Subsequent deadlines apply if you need help arranging for Chinese translation.
