The International Fiscal Association has issued a Call for Papers for the 2012 IFA USA Branch International Tax Symposium on September 30-October 4, 2012 in Boston:

Papers are welcome on any topic relating to taxation from international activities, applying any research methodology. Authors from anywhere in the world may apply. Submissions of papers related to the main subjects of the Congress are encouraged: Enterprise Services and The Debt-Equity Conundrum.

June 1, 2012: Submit either a 300-word abstract or the full paper to all members of the committee, with “IFA USA Symposium” in the subject line.

August 31, 2012: Full papers due. im

Call for Papers – Tax Scholars (Economics, Accounting, Finance, Law, & Political Science)

The University of North Carolina Tax Center is organizing its sixteenth annual symposium and seeks submissions for the symposium. Papers should be well developed, but at a stage where they can still benefit from the group’s discussion. The symposium will include six to seven papers. Travel and lodging expenses for presenters will be reimbursed up to $500.

Please submit an electronic version of the paper no later than November 9, 2012 to Professor Douglas Shackelford.

Call for Papers: Chinese Tax and Policy – Guangzhou, China

The Journal of Chinese Tax and Policy has issued a call for papers for its inaugural conference, which will be held on November 23-25, 2012 at Sun Yat-Sen University . The theme of the conference will be Tax Policy in China: A multilateral dialogue – Modernizing China’s Tax Laws for a Diverse Economy. The conference organizers are soliciting papers dealing with the conference theme and/or its implications. All papers accepted for the conference may be selected for publication in the Journal of Chinese Tax and Policy.

Abstract submissions of 300 words (in English) are due April 25, 2012. Subsequent deadlines apply if you need help arranging for Chinese translation.

The Law and Society Association and the Research Committee on Sociology of Law (International Sociological Association) invite papers for their joint annual meeting in Honolulu, HI June 5-8, 2012. The theme of the meeting is “Sociolegal Conversations Across a Sea of Islands” although other law & society topics are welcome. The call for papers deadline is Dec. 6, 2011.

In addition, the tax section of the meeting has a call for papers deadline of Nov. 29, 2011.
