Pre-Law Advisors, Diversifying the Legal Profession — Miami, FL, Washington, DC

The Society of American Law Teachers—SALT—is bringing its B.A. to J.D. Pipeline Project to Florida International University College of Law with a day-long program, Pre-Law Advisors as Gatekeepers: Strategies for Diversifying the Legal Profession, on Friday, October 26, 2012 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

We are inviting law school deans, admissions officers, and faculty to join in a regional conversation with pre-law college advisors about how best to identify and counsel students of color while they are still in college about what they need to do to prepare for law school, apply, and get accepted.

With the U.S. Supreme Court preparing to hear arguments in Fisher v. Texas, this program is especially urgent. To ensure diversity within the legal profession, we need to make sure that institutional resources—outreach, counseling, tutoring—are available and effective with all students.

A similar program will be hosted by American University Feb. 15, 2013, 10-5.
